What is detox?

Detoxification (detox) is medicinal and refers to the natural removal of toxins from the body. On daily basis the liver, kidneys, intestines, lymphatic systems are doing this work continuously for us.

What is cleansing?

Cleansing means purifying and get rid of impurities. Cleansing helps remove excess oil, sweat, dirt and dead skin cells from your skin. It stimulates your skin and gives your complexion a chance to breathe.

So what do we need to know about detoxification and cleansing? We’ll tell you below.

Detox.

Detoxing aims to help the body rid itself of toxins. The human body has many natural ways to allow detoxification through liver, sweat, urine and more. But quick exposure to contaminants has taken the average toxin consumption by human beings to an all-time high. These toxins get stored in tissues and cells of our bodies and manifest in harmful metabolic, reproductive and mental health effects. In serious cases, these toxins can also lead to cancerous outcomes. By detoxing your body you help the vital organs purify themselves of the toxins, and enable the liver to function properly in excreting them.

So how do you detoxify yourself naturally?

By focusing on sleep, drinking more water, limiting alcohol intake, decreasing salt intake, Including more fruits and vegetables in your daily diet. Fruits and green vegetables boost the water content in your body and help flush out toxins. Reduce your intake of processed foods. Avoid cold beverages, refined sugar, coffee, ice cream, fast/junk foods and oily foods.

Cleansing.

Skin cleansing removes dirt, sebum, oil and dead skin cells ideally without damaging or irritating the skin. Know that, it’s important to cleanse your skin every night, but also in the morning too, to remove any toxins your skin eliminates during the night.

So how do you cleanse your skin naturally?

  • Steaming your face.

Steam for as long as your skin can endure (roughly 5 minutes) and then gently wipe the face with a facial tissue. This step works wonders for oily skin. Massage your face using an ice cube (in circular motions), afterwards, to tighten the pores and bring back the skin temperature to normal.

  • Scrubbing.

Scrub using a face scrub for a few minutes since it helps eliminate dead skin cells, which make your skin look dull. You can apply a mix of sugar and honey in equal parts to exfoliate your skin naturally. Scrub your face for 5 minutes, and then leave it on for another 3 minutes or so, before you wash it off.

  • Face pack.

Face pack can help hydrate skin, remove excess oils and help improve the appearance of your pores. Using a face pack daily can help your skin in getting rid of the impurities and dirt collected not only on the surface of the skin but also from the endodermis.

  • Toner.

Toner can help close pores and tighten cell gaps after cleansing, reducing the penetration of impurities and environmental contaminants into the skin. Apply a home-made toner on your face, such as cucumber juice and rose water, which helps maintain the pH balance.
